ZTBL Jobs
If you’re searching ZTBL Careers, you’re most likely looking at one of the more unusual employers in Pakistani banking. Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited isn’t a commercial bank chasing urban deposits. It’s the country’s specialised agriculture bank, and most of its work happens in small towns and villages rather than in city branches.
That shapes who it hires. Alongside the usual banking roles in risk, treasury, compliance and IT, the bank runs a field credit operation staffed by officers who ride out to farms, assess loan cases on the ground, and follow up on recovery. Very few employers in Pakistan hire for that mix.
This page covers what ZTBL actually does, which departments hire, what the application process looks like, and how to give yourself a better shot. The current openings are listed below the article.
About ZTBL
ZTBL was formerly the Agricultural Development Bank of Pakistan. The bank was incorporated as a public limited company on 14 December 2002, when the ADB Ordinance of 1961 was repealed, which is why you’ll still see older staff and documents refer to it as ADBP. It’s licensed and regulated by the State Bank of Pakistan and its head office sits at 1 Faisal Avenue, near Zero Point Interchange, in G-7/1 Islamabad.
The business is agriculture credit first. On its own About page, the bank describes serving around half a million clients a year and over a million accumulated account holders, with an average loan size close to Rs. 162,331. Most of that lending goes to subsistence growers rather than large landholders. The President’s message on the site puts the network at 501 branches, conventional and Islamic combined, supported by trained Mobile Credit Officers, and says the bank has held an AAA/A-1+ credit rating for five consecutive years.
Products run wider than most people expect. There are tractor loans and production schemes like Kissan Khushhal, but also financing for beekeeping, biofloc fish farming, dairy value chains, dehydration of dates, and a women’s scheme in the garment sector. On the retail side there are current, savings and term deposit accounts, an Islamic banking arm with its own Shariah Board, and a digital stack that includes internet and mobile banking, RAAST, USSD, WhatsApp banking, debit cards, and an AI agri advisory service called Zarai Rehnuma.
Jobs and Departments at ZTBL
The bank publishes its senior structure openly, which makes it easy to see where the hiring happens. Group and divisional heads sit across Risk Management, Business, Operations and General Services, Special Assets Management, Human Resources, Islamic Banking, Internal Audit, Compliance and ICFR, Treasury, Credit, Finance and Accounts, Legal, Product Development and Liability Management, Planning Research and Technology, People Services, Training and Development, and Services. There’s a CIO and a CTO, so technology is a real function rather than a support desk.
The openings advertised in August 2026 give a fair picture of what the bank recruits for at head office:
- Risk roles, including Head Operational Risk Unit, Manager IFRS-9 and Risk Analytics, Environment Risk Officer, and Market and Liquidity Risk Analyst
- Treasury, including Head Treasury Division
- Special Assets Management, including Unit Head Settlement
- Shariah governance, including Resident Shariah Board Member
Out in the field, the roles look different. Branch banking, agricultural credit appraisal, credit administration, recovery and audit make up the bulk of the network jobs, and Mobile Credit Officer is the classic entry point into the agri credit side.
Grades are worth understanding before you apply. ZTBL uses the standard banking ladder, OG-II at officer level, then AVP, VP, SVP, EVP and SEVP as you go up. An advertisement titled AVP-I/AVP is a mid-management post, not an entry one.
Who ZTBL Hires
For head office positions the bank asks for a minimum Bachelor’s degree from an HEC recognised institute or university, and it accepts foreign degrees from recognised institutions. Specialist posts add their own bar on top. Risk analytics openings lean toward finance, statistics and accounting backgrounds. Treasury and IFRS-9 work suits people with banking treasury or financial reporting experience. The Shariah role obviously needs Islamic finance credentials.
Experience expectations scale with the grade, and they’re specific rather than vague. The Head Treasury Division advertisement asked for a minimum of ten years in banking or a treasury related function. Officer grade risk roles ask for far less. Two eligibility rules apply across the board on contractual senior posts: there’s an upper age limit stated in each advertisement, and anyone convicted by a court, or dismissed or terminated by a previous employer on disciplinary grounds, is not eligible.
The bank states in its advertisements that it’s an equal opportunity employer and encourages women and persons with disabilities to apply. That’s consistent with the rest of its work, since it runs dedicated women’s financial services and a financial inclusion programme for persons with disabilities.
Agricultural qualifications carry unusual weight here compared to other banks. Senior people at ZTBL hold degrees like an M.Sc. Hons in agriculture alongside their banking diplomas, which tells you the bank values people who understand crops and farm economics, not just credit files.
How the Hiring Process Works
Anyone researching ZTBL Careers should start at the source. The bank keeps this simple and says so on its official careers page: every vacancy is advertised in the leading national newspapers and on the bank’s own website. If you saw a ZTBL job somewhere else first, go back to the source and read the actual advertisement PDF before applying, because the eligibility conditions live there.
Applications go through the bank’s online recruitment portal, linked as Apply Online next to each vacancy. Each posting carries an opening date and a closing date, usually a two week window, and applications submitted after the closing date are not accepted. The bank’s own note is direct about it: submit the documents exactly as prescribed in the advertisement.
Shortlisting comes next, and only shortlisted candidates are called for interview. The advertisements state plainly that no TA or DA is payable for attending, so travel to Islamabad is at your own cost. The bank also reserves the right to accept or reject any application without giving a reason, which is standard for public sector institutions.
One detail catches people out. Many senior ZTBL positions are contractual rather than permanent, often on terms of up to five years with extension possible. That isn’t a red flag, it’s how the bank structures its market hires, but read the contract length in the advertisement before you assume it’s a permanent government post.
Salary and Benefits
ZTBL doesn’t publish pay scales, and its advertisements state that market competitive remuneration will be offered rather than naming a figure. Since the bank sits under State Bank of Pakistan ownership and uses the OG to SEVP grade ladder, compensation follows banking sector norms for the grade rather than the civil service pay scales people sometimes assume.
What the bank does publish is worth knowing. It maintains a list of panel hospitals for staff, which points to a medical facility, and it runs its own Staff College along with a dedicated Training and Development Division. For anyone early in a banking career, in house training at that scale is a genuine benefit, not a line on a brochure.
Anything beyond that, allowances, provident fund, leave terms, comes down to the specific grade and contract, and the bank doesn’t put those figures online. Ask during the interview rather than relying on numbers you find on forums.
Office Locations
Head office is in Islamabad, at 1 Faisal Avenue near Zero Point Interchange, G-7/1. Most of the senior and specialist vacancies, risk, treasury, compliance, IT, are based there.
The branch network is a different story. With 501 branches across conventional and Islamic banking, ZTBL reaches into rural districts that most banks skip, and it organises the country into regions with regional offices, regional heads and separate audit zones. Field roles are posted where the farming is, so expect placements in smaller cities and rural districts rather than a choice of Karachi or Lahore. The bank runs a branch locator on its site if you want to check what’s near you before applying.
Everything is on site. This is a branch and field banking operation, so remote work isn’t part of the picture at any grade.
How to Improve Your Chances at ZTBL
Read the advertisement PDF, not the summary. ZTBL puts its eligibility criteria, age limits, contract length and document requirements inside the PDF linked from the careers page. Applications get dropped for missing documents far more often than for weak experience.
Match your CV to the grade, not the title. If the post says AVP-I/AVP, the bank is looking for someone who has already carried a mid-management load. Show team size, portfolio size, and what you owned, not just what you were involved in.
Put the agriculture connection up front if you have one. An M.Sc. Hons in agriculture, rural branch experience, agri credit appraisal, farm sector exposure from another bank, all of it counts here in a way it wouldn’t at a commercial bank. If you’ve worked in agri financing at any institution, that belongs in the first third of your CV.
Name the regulatory frameworks you’ve actually worked with. SBP prudential regulations, SLR and CRR requirements, IFRS-9, AML and compliance reporting. The risk and treasury advertisements are written in that language, and applications that mirror it get read more carefully.
Don’t dismiss the field route. One of the bank’s current divisional heads started at ADBP in 1986 as a Mobile Credit Officer and worked up through branch banking, audit and compliance to run a division. The bank promotes from inside its network, so an officer grade start in a rural branch is a real path rather than a dead end.
On the flip side, several group heads joined ZTBL mid career from MCB, Bank Alfalah, Allied Bank and The Bank of Punjab. If you’re a commercial banker looking at ZTBL Careers as a lateral move, senior hiring from outside is normal here and you won’t be seen as an outsider.
Last one, and it’s the cheapest win: apply early in the window. The portal closes on the stated date and there’s no grace period.
