Meezan Bank
Meezan Bank runs more than 1,000 branches in over 300 cities, so hiring here never really stops. That is one reason Meezan Bank Careers stays among the busiest employer searches in Pakistan, especially for fresh graduates chasing a first banking job.
Roles open across branch banking, operations, credit, treasury, IT and the call centre, plus head office functions in Karachi. Some intakes are batch based for fresh graduates. Others are senior openings with hard experience bars written into the ad.
Below is what is actually worth knowing before you apply: what the bank does, which teams hire, what they ask for on paper, and how the application runs.
About Meezan Bank
Meezan Bank Limited was incorporated in January 1997 and started life as an investment bank. The turning point came in 2002, when the State Bank of Pakistan granted it the first full commercial banking licence in the country dedicated to Islamic banking. That licence is why every piece of the bank’s own material calls it Pakistan’s first and largest Islamic bank.
It is a publicly listed company. The bank’s corporate profile puts paid-up capital at Rs. 17.94 billion and describes a retail network of more than 1,000 branches in over 300 cities, backed by more than 950 ATMs, a call centre, internet banking, a mobile app and SMS banking, all running on a T-24 core banking system. Head office is in Karachi.
Shariah compliance here is a department with staff, not a line on a poster. The bank runs a Product Development and Shariah Compliance function under a Resident Shariah Board Member, plus a Shariah Board of scholars chaired by Justice (Retd.) Muhammad Taqi Usmani. Whatever role you join in, you work inside those rules.
Leadership changed at the end of 2025. Dr. Syed Amir Ali became President and CEO on December 30, 2025, taking over from founding president Irfan Siddiqui, who retired after building the bank from 1997. Group companies include Al Meezan Investment Management on the asset management side and Meezan Exchange Company, and both put out their own openings.
Jobs and Departments at Meezan Bank
The branch network drives most of the hiring. Most Meezan Bank Jobs fall into a handful of areas:
- Branch banking and operations: cash officers, customer service officers, operations managers and branch managers. This is the biggest single source of vacancies.
- Business and relationship roles: consumer, SME and commercial staff handling deposits and Shariah compliant financing.
- Credit and risk: analysts and approvers working to SBP Prudential Regulations and the bank’s own credit policy.
- Corporate and investment banking, and treasury: head office teams based in Karachi.
- IT and digital: core banking on T-24, internet banking, the mobile app, ATM and card systems, plus support desks.
- Call centre: the 24/7 helpline runs in shifts and hires steadily.
- Shariah compliance, product development and Shariah audit: the function that separates Meezan from a conventional bank.
- Finance, audit, compliance and HR: the usual head office functions.
- Group companies: Meezan Exchange Company has advertised booth roles in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Sialkot, Faisalabad, Peshawar and Mirpur AJK, and Al Meezan Investment Management hires on the asset management side.
Field roles carry weight early. The bank’s own Area Manager advert asks the person to visit branches, monitor audit ratings and CAD observations, track overdue and classified financing, and hit monthly business budgets. Read the ad, not the job title.
Who Meezan Bank Hires
Entry level seats go to fresh graduates and masters students from HEC recognised universities. Business, commerce, finance, accounting and economics degrees dominate branch and operations intakes. IT roles lean toward computer science and software backgrounds.
Senior ads are stricter, and they say so in writing. The Area Manager posting asked for at least 10 years in banking including 2 years at a similar level, a master’s in a banking related discipline from an HEC recognised institute, and an age cap of 45 with exceptions allowed for experience or special qualifications. Expect that shape on other senior roles.
Islamic finance knowledge matters. The same advert asks the manager to keep staff well versed in Islamic finance and Meezan’s products, so knowing the difference between Murabaha, Ijarah, Musharakah and Mudarabah is not optional reading.
For students, the bank runs an internship programme built around giving university students exposure before they graduate. It sits on the Why Meezan Bank page next to training and development and a defined career path.
How the Hiring Process Works
Applications go through the bank’s own candidate portal. The Meezan Bank careers page lists current openings and links to an Oracle based recruitment site branded Meezan Bank Careers, where you build a profile, upload a CV and apply against a specific position. Mailing a CV to a general address is the slowest route available.
Individual ads carry hard closing dates and eligibility written as bullet points. Those bullets are the screen. If an ad asks for 10 years of banking experience and you have four, the filter catches it before a human does.
Fresh graduate intakes usually run as batches, so one advert covers many seats across cities and everyone moves through the stages together. That stretches the timeline compared with a single seat hire, so applying early and then waiting is normal. Watch the careers page and the bank’s LinkedIn page, since openings show up on both.
Salary and Benefits
Meezan Bank does not publish a salary grid, and no honest page can hand you one. Figures circulating on job boards are unverified, so treat them as rumour until an offer letter says otherwise.
What the bank does publish is the benefits side. Its careers material lists a competitive package, a defined career path, training and development, and a Learn and Earn arrangement where staff are encouraged to complete the Institute of Bankers Pakistan JAIBP qualification with monetary rewards attached.
Facilities are documented in more detail: an in-house masjid with a separate prayer area for women at head office, gym and indoor games, a swimming pool, a library, a subsidised cafeteria, farmhouse and beach huts for staff, a guarded shuttle service, and a day care at head office for working mothers. Training runs through an auditorium, video conferencing rooms, mock branches and training centres around the country.
Office Locations
Head office is in Karachi, and that is where the specialist functions sit: corporate and investment banking, treasury, IT, Shariah compliance, risk, audit and HR.
Everything else follows the branch map across more than 300 cities. Branch and operations roles are on site by nature, and postings can move you. One Area Manager advert listed Karachi and Khuzdar as places of posting in the same ad, which tells you how wide the placement net goes.
If you are in a smaller city, that works in your favour rather than against it. Branch hiring happens where the branches are.
How to Improve Your Chances at Meezan Bank
Put Islamic banking vocabulary on your CV and be ready to defend it. Name the modes you understand, Murabaha, Ijarah, Musharakah, Diminishing Musharakah, Mudarabah, Sukuk, and be able to say in one line what makes each different from an interest based product. Candidates who cannot do this stand out badly at a bank whose whole model rests on it.
Match the advert’s language. If the posting says cash handling, account opening, KYC and AML checks, or clearing, use those exact words instead of writing “branch work”.
For credit and business roles, mention SBP Prudential Regulations, credit proposal preparation, renewals, security documentation and recovery of overdue accounts if you have touched them. That is the vocabulary the bank’s own ads use.
For IT, name the systems. Core banking exposure, T-24 in particular, plus internet banking, mobile app, ATM switch or card systems work.
Then check the boring boxes: HEC recognition of your degree, your age against any stated cap, and the closing date. Applications get dropped over these long before anyone reads your experience.
Add a line on IBP progress. If you have started or finished JAIBP stages, put it near the top of the CV, because the bank funds and rewards that qualification and reads it as a signal.
Finally, apply against a specific position rather than parking a general profile, and keep the CV tight. Two pages, dates that add up, and no unexplained gaps.
